As the Neptunian chronicles continue to unfold, AndrewCharles contributes a new entry that is inspired by and unique to the current lunar phenomena of the Super Blue Blood Moon. AndrewCharles is a DJ, producer and Neptunian Influence affiliate residing in Detroit. His newest project is Rings Records, “an Intergalactic travel agency for the mind to explore new worlds.” As a good friend who I’ve shared musical visions with over the years, I am very proud of him and impressed with this outstanding mix that he’s made! Please enjoy his soundscape and story featured below. Lastly, look up at the sky on the early morning of January 31 to witness a spectacular event that has not happened in 150 years!

AndrewCharles artist statement:

Before Miranda and I first bonded over a mutual love for Gesloten Cirkel some years ago, I didn’t think that my love for Electro was shared by too many. It had come and gone so many times since I first jammed to my Mom’s Egyptian Lover records, I figured it was just a genre I explored on my own. As time goes on and I meet more dj’s, producers, and fans, it’s clear that I was wrong. There are so many talented people involved and giving their all, discovering new artists is a daily humbling experience.

For this mix, I wanted to score a story strictly from my own imagination. As I mixed and remixed this through several variations, the story figured it’s own way out.

The Super Blue Blood Moon

As we lifted off, I felt a sense of calm. The hood of my suit made leaning against the window comfortable. I had saved for this moment, forever. I was leaving the icy black Titan seas, to bathe in the bright blue hues of Neptune. I found comfort in the rumble of the rockets.

As the second stages disengaged over Lake Ligeia, my stomach attempted an escape from my mouth. I wasn’t as prepared as I thought. The body shaking rumble made my eyes cross, rattling like marbles on a glass table. The captain came over the intercom, her voice drew nostalgia.

*Csshhh*

Uhh, good evening ladies and gentlemen,

This is your captain speaking,

As we head towards our final destination on Thalassa,

I’d like to thank you for traveling with Rings Intergalactic

*Csshhh*

and uhh, please make sure to tighten up those safety belts, because it’s going to be a bit of bumpy ride. *Csssh*

I’d learned to compartmentalize my trauma. When they first cured death, they couldn’t have foreseen the agony of dying, even with knowing you’d be uploaded into a fresh body in a few days.

I’d only crossed the void once, but once was enough.

After clearing the Phoebe ring, it seemed to be clear sailing. The pale blue dot of salvation blinked in my HUD. My face felt jealousy for the color, as I turned green with sickening shock.

A massive hole ripped through the space we were once happily coasting into. A wormhole. I’d never experienced one with this kind of force.

It felt like falling down and up, simultaneously. Colors and shapes shifted in and out of existence, my mind unable to tell the difference. Form, tone, subject, shade, polygon, tints… all blending down a tube faster than I’d ever traveled at the speed of light. Alien voices reverberated through the metal hull of the ship bay.

Time stood in slow motion. The crash wasn’t surprising because I thought the landing would be smooth. The universe never ceases to shatter expectations. I looked up from the glass stained rocks and I ranked the gods.

As I passed my last grips of air, I watched Naiad eclipse Despina; the largest eclipsed moonrise witnessed on Thalassa in 150 years.

150 years… I felt like a kid again.
